COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A recently introduced Ohio bill aims to ban nondisclosure and confidentiality agreements regarding child sexual abuse.
Reps. Roy Klopfenstein (R-Haviland) and Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) introduced House Bill 723, named “Trey’s Law,” in early March.
The measure would bar anyone from entering into a legal agreement that prohibits an individual from notifying law enforcement or speaking out about child sexual abuse, and make any such contract void. The ban would apply to agreements signed on or after the bill’s effective date.
