House and Senate pass ‘Trey’s Law’ to stop NDAs in sexual abuse cases
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Both houses of the Alabama Legislature have passed a bill to limit non-disclosure agreements in civil cases of sexual abuse. Senate Bill 30, by Sen. Matt Woods, R-Jasper, and House Bill 93, by Rep. David Faulkner, R-Mountain Brook, are part of a national effort to pass “Trey’s Law,” named for Trey Carlock.
Alabama Legislature passes bills banning NDAs against sexual abuse survivors
The Alabama Legislature passed two bills this week prohibiting civil courts from issuing nondisclosure agreements against survivors of sexual assault. SB 30, sponsored by Sen. Matt Woods, R-Jasper, and HB 93, sponsored by Rep. David Faulkner, R-Mountain Brook, intend to protect survivors and further the healing process following sexual assault and abuse.
